Resonance ionisation mass spectrometry of europium

  • 1. National Centre for Compositional Characterisation of Materials, ECIL, Hyderabad (India)

Description

In resonance ionisation mass spectrometry (RIMS), the atoms in the ground state are excited to one of the higher levels by laser radiation. Then by using same laser or a different laser, the excited species is taken into ionisation continuum and the resultant photo ions are detected in the mass spectrometer. In the present paper, isotope selective excitation of europium have been considered involving one resonant step in the excitation scheme
