Description
Gabal Abu Hamr pluton is an elongated per alkaline granitic mass emplaced along the E-NE (Qena-Safaga) shear zone as one of the an orogenic granitic complexes represented in the Eastern Desert of Egypt belonging to the Arabian Nubian Shield. During the late Devonian, an ENE-WSW strike slip fault affected this granitic mass. Alkaline hydrothermal solutions ascended along this fault, causing the metasomatism of the granite, leading to the escape of Zr, U, Mo and HREEs into the fluids. The movement of the enriched solutions was structurally controlled and directed through the NNE-SSW trend and concentrated along the tectonic contact between the granite and the adjacent meta volcanics. Along this contact, U-and Mo mineralizations were detected. The identified minerals are uraninite, uranophane, kasolite, molybdenite, powellite, iriginite and tengchongite; associated with Zircon, Fluorite, Pyrite and Galena. Radiometric measurements indicated that this radioactive anomaly suffered later uranium leaching through meteoric water
