Colpostat featuring vertical applicator positioning in manual afterloading system

The colpostat of manual afterloading type is a modification of the system of intravaginal treatment of cancer of the cervix. Apart from protecting personnel against ionizing radiation, it also diminishes the radiation burden of the critical organs in the true pelvis during treatment. It allows the easy and quick introduction of applicators into the ovoid colpostat heads and their rotation to the resultant vertical position. It may be applied both independently and in combination with an intrauterine tube in relation to the method of treatment of that particular department. (author)
