Quantitative assessment of efficacy of radiotherapy of malignant tumors

Description

Scanning densitometry, a perspective method for aposterior processing of roentgenogramm, was developed for quantitative assessment of the efficacy of radiotherapy of malignant tumors. The method is realized through x-ray tomography followed by tomogram processing using a scanning densitometer or through computer-aided tomography followed by computer processing using a special program. This method for assessment of radiotherapy efficacy was used in cases with pulmonary and laryngeal cancer and with changes in pulmonary ventilation developing in the course of therapy. Analysis of densitometric curver (their shape and relative optic density of tomograms) helped objectively assess the effect of therapy on the whole or of any of its stages
