Carbide hardening of PM molybdenum alloys
Description
An attempt was made to produce wire powder molybdenum alloys with carbide hardening. Effective hardening of powder molybdenum was reached due to introduction of carbon and boron in combination, as through idefiniteness of oxygen content in the system it was necessary to introduce deoxidizing agents in excess, that predetermined the possibility of formation of molybdenum carbides and/or borides. Formation of dispersion precipitationsof hardening phases in alloys is accompanied by increase of their ability to deformation hardening, slowing of recovery processes, polygonization and recrystallization, refinement of size of deformed fiber or recrystallized graines, increase of short-term and long-term strength as compared with other wire powder molybdenum alloys
