The Creys-Malville Plant Fast Breeder Station: Tests and start-up
Description
Since the integration of the Creys-Malville Power Plant into the national power network on January 14, 1986, the required testing of the facility was carried out in successive stages. The needed construction of this plant demonstrates the feasibility of building a large fast breeder reactor power plant. With the combined power output of the Soviet BN 350 (commissioned in 1972), the French Phenix (put into operation in 1974), the British DFR (full potential attained in 1977), BN 600 (went critical in 1980), the West German SNR 300 reactor (soon to be put into operation), and if the Creys-Malville Power Plant lives up to its expectations, Europe will be able to generate 30000 MWe of power with breeder reactors alone. Of this 3000 MWe, 2000 MWe will be produced in Western Europe
