Rare decays and CP violation in K and B systems
Description
The complementary roles played by K and B decays to check the Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing scheme and the mechanism of CP violation are discussed. The origin of the sizeable CP asymmetry in B decays is clarified, in comparison with the corresponding asymmetry in K system. While the theoretical prediction of such CP asymmetry in B decay is reliable, K rare decays still provide some useful information on mt. For example, the recent data on KL → μμ-bar with some assumption, implies 60 GeV < or approx. mt < or approx. 120 GeV. (author)
