Preparation of 99Mo/99mTc generator based on cross-linked chitosan polymer using low-specific activity (n,γ)99Mo
- 1. Radiopharmaceuticals Lab., Regional Centre, Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology, Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata (India)
Description
The cross-linked chitosan polymer (CCM) is an emerging non-toxic, bio-degradable adsorbent matrix. The CCM matrix has very high adsorption for Mo and thus can be utilized to prepare 99Mo/99mTc generator using low-specific activity (n, γ) 99Mo. The precursors for this CCM synthesis are Chitosan and glutaraldehyde. Characterization of CCM is done by XRD, SEM, FT-IR spectroscopy. Adsorption of (n, γ)99Mo on CCM (both oxidized and non-oxidized) is performed with adsorption capacity 600mg Mo/g of polymer and with 70% and 40% 99mTc elution efficiency. (author)
