Nuclear power. Modern situation and development prospects

This review is based on the analysis of INIS database and IAEA editions. They contain a large scope of information on nuclear power problems, in particular, about the traditional power reactor types, reactors of new generation, nuclear fuel cycle, waste management etc. A lot attention is paid there to ecological, economic, social and political aspects of different energy source use. The INIS information can be used studies of the situation with scientific and technical research in the World or in particular countries in the field of interest, for obtaining data about the results of this research, and for adoption of solutions about the optimal ways of nuclear power development. A short history and present situation in nuclear power is exposed, general information about the technical conditions of the existing NPP operation, and about reactors of new generation is given. Economic performance of traditional and new energy sources and their comparative ecological influence is evaluated. 36 refs., 7 tab., 1 figs
