A nonlinear geometry of reactor dynamics with temperature feedback

Description
Topological methods are used to analyze fission reactor dynamics with temperature feedback. The chosen coordinates of the statespace are proportional to the power and core temperature, and the temperature feedback is based on a power-law representation. Stability analysis and trajectorial characterization are performed with respect to a control parameter related to power-to-flow ratio. It is shown that the system evolves from nodal to spiral geometries of behavior as the power-to-flow ratio is increased past a threshold value. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Dynamik von Spaltungsreaktoren mit Temperaturrueckkopplung wird mittels topologischer Verfahren analysiert. Die gewaehlten Koordinaten im Zustandsraum sind der Leistung und der Temperatur der Spaltzone proportional; die Temperaturrueckkopplung ist als Potenzgesetz formuliert. Die Stabilitaetsanalyse und die Charakterisierung der Trajektorien werden mit Hilfe eines Steuerparameters vorgenommen, der mit dem Quotienten von Leistung und Stroemungsgeschwindigkeit zusammenhaengt. Wenn dieser Quotient ueber einen Schwellenwert erhoeht wird, so geht die nodale Struktur der Trajektorien im Phasenraum in eine spiralfoermige Struktur ueber. (orig.)Additional details
