Local flow blockage experiments-6

Description

Out-of-pile experiments were conducted of local temperature rise due to a non-heat-generating blockage in an electrically heated 37-pin bundle. A 1/2 edge part of its cross-sectional channel area was blocked by a 5mm thick stainless-steel plate. The mass exchange rate per unit interface area of wake region obtained in the present edge blockage experiments agreed fairly well with that obtained in the earlier central blockage experiments. The dimensionless coolant residence time was independent of Reynolds number. (author)
