Zr-Mo gel characterization used for production of 99 Mo-99mTc generators

Description
This work describes the initial steps and methods used in the characterization of the Mo Zr gel for use in the 99m Tc. Nowadays, IPEN is developing a project for the nationalization of the radioisotope production for use in Nuclear Medicine, and 99m Mo will be produced by the (n,γ) at the reactor and the gel is prepared after the irradiation by the reaction with Zr O Cl2. Up to now the gel characterization consists of: structure identification by X-ray difraction quantification of Mo, Zr and impurities by neutron activation analysis and determination of the 99m Tc elution profile and elution yield.
