Description

The present study was conducted to determine the natural radioactivity concentration of 238U, 232Th and 40K in coastal sediments from Poombuhar to Karaikal along east coast of Tamilnadu, India, using gamma ray spectroscopy. The radiation associated with the sediments was evaluated using radium equivalent activity (Raeq) and external hazard index (Hex). The findings from this research work would be useful to evaluate the population exposure from radio nuclides in the study area. The results of these research investigations are discussed in detail and presented in this paper. (author)
