Calculation of RBMK-1500 circulation loop and core

Description

A capability is being developed to use the MELKOR 1.8.3 computer code to calculate accident sequences in the Ignalina RBMK-1500 nuclear power plant. An input model has been developed for the reactor coolant system having the capability to model loss-of-coolant accidents involving rupture of either a main circulation pipe, main coolant pump header, distribution group header, or a single channel as well as station blockout and pump coast down accidents. An input model of the core has been developed in terms of three radial rings. The core is modelling using three radial rings representing 1, 40, and 790 fuel channels, respectively. (author)
