Development of nuclear methods for determining fluid-dynamic parameters in fluid catalyst cracking reactors

Description
Flow parameters of circulating fluidized bed in a simulated Fluid Catalyst Cracking reactor were determined by means of nuclear methods. The parameters were: residence time, density, inventory, circulation rate and radial distribution, for the catalyst; residence time for the gaseous phase. The nuclear methods where the gamma attenuation and the radiotracer. Two tracer techniques were developed, one for tagging of the catalyst by the 59Fe as intrinsic tracer and another for tagging of the gaseous phase by the CH382Br as tracer. A detailed description of each measuring technique for all the investigated parameters is included. To carry out the determination for some of parameters a combination of the two methods was also applied. The results and the nuclear data are given in a table. (Author)

Parametros de escoamento de leito fluidizado circulante num reator de FCC (Fluid Catalyst Cracking) foram investigados por meio de metodos nucleares num modelo experimental. Os parametros determinados foram: densidade, distribuicao radial, tempo de residencia, inventario e tempo de circulacao, para o catalisador; tempo de residencia, para a fase gasosa. Foram utilizados os metodos do tracador radioativo e da atenuacao-γ. Foram desenvolvidas duas tecnicas de marcacao, uma para o catalisador, com o 59Fe como tracador intrinseco e outra para a fase gasosa com a producao do CH382Br. Sao descritas as tecnicas de medidas para cada parametro investigado. Alguns parametros foram medidos por meio da combinacao dos dois metodos.
