Boiling water reactor
Description
Circulation of the coolant in boiling water reactors in the annular space between the reactor core and the reactor pressure vessel is usually provided by a pump which is situated in a horizontal separating wall. There is at least one valve in the separating wall which closes an opening in parallel with flow through the pump, as long as the pump is working. The opening improves the natural circulation, in case the pump fails. (orig./HP)

Bei SWR ist ueblicherweise eine Kuehlmittelumwaelzung im Ringraum zwischen dem Reaktorkern und dem Reaktordruckbehaelter durch eine Pumpe vorgesehen, die in einer horizontalen Trennwand sitzt. In der Trennwand ist mindestens ein Ventil angeordnet, das eine zur Pumpe stroemungstechnisch parallel liegende Oeffnung verschliesst, solange die Pumpe arbeitet. Die Oeffnung verbessert den Naturumlauf fuer den Fall, dass die Pumpe ausfaellt. (orig./HP)Additional details
