A pipelined VLSI-based structure for the reconstruction of three-dimensional images from projections

  • 1. Vrije Univ., Brussels (Belgium)

Description

The backprojection problem for medical image processing is described for the special case of a HDPC positron camera. Unrealistic high processing times prompt the introduction of parallel computing. A pipelined parallel architecture with processors attached to slices of the reconstruction cube is described. A standard cell ASIC implementation for the processor is on its way and preliminary results are reported
