Baseline studies on radioprotection by Amifostine, G. sylvestre and Gymnemagenin against γ - radiation

Description
Radical scavenging molecules act as radioprotectors against deleterious effects of radiation. The radioprotective efficacy of G. sylvestre and Gymnemagenin was evaluated by genotoxic assay, using Amifostine as a standard compound. The LD50 dose by Prohibit Analysis was calculated for gamma radiation exposure of fishes to 2.5-20 Gy for 30 days. The less observed effect of Amifostine was determined by Micronuclei and Comet assays and injecting (I.M) with 83.3-500 mg/kg/bw. The concentration of Gymnema sylvestre leaf extract was determined using 25-200 mg/kg/bw and Gymnemagenin concentration was determined using 0.3-10 mg/kg/bw
