Investigation of the heat transfer in TEMHD driven swirling lithium flow

Description

Thermoelectric magnetohydrodynamic (TEMHD) driven flow was recently observed directly in SLiDE experiment when the lithium is heated by a non-uniform electron beam and affected by the magnetic field in the same direction. This type of flow is believed to have the ability transferring the heat from the hot spot to the cool part efficiently in a convection way. Detailed temperature distribution and heat transfer in this flow is investigated with the help of infrared camera system. A 3D convection heat transfer model is applied to explain the experiment results.
