Description

This annual report of the GKSS-Research Centre Geesthacht GmbH contains a survey of the research- and development work done in the year of the report and a survey on the organisation and situation of the society. The R and D programme can be divided in two parts: utilization of nuclear energy; utilization of the sea and the coasts. The first part concerns tasks on the sector of reactor safety compiled to a project which is fully integrated into the programme Reactor Safety of the Federal Ministy for Research and Technology. Development of nuclear-energy propelled vessels is continued to a smaller extent than before. The NS OTTO HAHN stopped operations in 1979. In 1980 a waste-disposed concept for the nuclear waste was developed, on the basis of which the GKSS received permission to put the ship out of service. (orig./RW)

Abstract (German)

Wie in den Vorjahren gibt die GKSS-Forschungszentrum Geesthacht GmbH in der Reihe ihrer Jahresberichte eine zusammenfassende Darstellung der im Berichtsjahr durchgefuehrten Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten sowie eine Uebersicht ueber die Organisation und Situation in der Gesellschaft. Das Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprogramm der Gesellschaft gliedert sich in zwei Bereiche: Nutzung der Kernenergie; Nutzung des Meeres und der Kuesten. Der Aufgabenbereich Nutzung der Kernenergie umfasst insbesondere Vorhaben auf dem Gebiet der Raktorsicherheitsforschung, die zu einem Projekt zusammengefasst und vollstaendig in das Programm Reaktorsicherheit des Bundesministeriums fuer Forschung und Technologie eingegliedert sind. Daneben wird die Kernenergieschiffsentwicklung in geringerem Umfang als frueher fortgesetzt. Das NS OTTO HAHN wurde 1979 ausser Betrieb genommen. Im Jahre 1980 wurde ein Entsorgungskonzept entwickelt, auf dessen Basis der GKSS im Dezember 1980 die Genehmigung zur Stillegung erteilt wurde. (orig./RW)
