Automated screening for explosives and weapons
Description
In the USA, virtually all the nuclear power stations are equipped with Ai Cambridge's 85600 Dualscan. This is a combined vapour and weapons detector that automatically screens people as they walk through the archway. The Dualscan works by sampling air from around the person standing in the archway. This is then passed through the sample ports, situated in the sides of the equipment, to the detector. Should the air contain sufficient explosive vapour, a sensor triggers both a visual and audible alarm. For detecting weapons, the Dualscan incorporates a device which identifies metals. (Author)
