Nuclear research activities co-sponsored by European Commission

This paper gives a global vision despite the space limitations- on the specific nuclear research activities co-sponsored by the European Commission through the General Directorate Research, DG RTD, in the framework of the Euratom Treaty. After a short overview of the Euratom FithFramework Programme (1998-2002), the main research fields of the Euratom Sixth Framework Programme (2002-2006) are emphasised also with regard to the present contracts negotiations, as well as the coming call for proposals of 2004. The Spanish participation in both FPs is also assessed. Finally, also the support given by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and various international cooperation activities on nuclear research are addressed. (Author)
