Highlights: • Retrospective analysis of a clinical trial to identify predictors for RIL in NSCLC. • Age, lung V5 and XRCC1 rs25487 were independent risk factors for sereve RIL. • Number of these risk factors stratified patients at different risk for severe RIL. We investigated clinical and genetic factors associated with severe radiation-induced lymphopenia (RIL) in a randomized clinical trial of photon vs. proton radiation, with chemotherapy, for non-small cell lung cancer.
