Failure factors
Description
The paper concerns the work carried out at the Structural Integrity Centre (SIC), Risley Nuclear Laboratories, (United Kingdom), on the integrity and life assessment of structures and components of nuclear plant. A description is given of the SIC's role and structure, as well as its area of expertise. The real structural response is described with respect to thermally loaded structures. The work on creep/fatique features and the wide range of testing equipment are summarized. (U.K.)
