Quark masses and renormalization group
Description
This paper reports on the possibility of dynamical generation of quark masses which is studied in QCD by making use of renormalization group equations. Although the authors confine themselves to QCD the quark-gluon system must be prepared to accommodate electroweak interactions, and this implies a set of conservation laws defining chiral symmetry. In the absence of Higgs fields the requirement of chiral symmetry leads to a set of equations to determine the quark mass ratios and the gauge coupling constant with the help of renormalization group
