Smooth or sharp crossover between thermally assisted and pure quantum tunneling in single-molecule magnets

  • 1. Department of Physics, Sejong University, Seoul 143-747 (Korea, Republic of)

Description

We have studied numerically the quantum-classical crossover in the escape rate in molecular nanomagnets. It is found that the higher-order longitudinal anisotropy plays an important role in the abrupt or gradual crossover of the dominant level in each resonance. The results can be compared with a recent experiment
