Anisotropic thermal expansion, microcracking, and acoustic emission of niobia ceramics
Description
Monoclinic α Nb2O5 ceramics are known to exhibit low overall thermal expansion, but exhibit large anisotropy in axial thermal expansion and hysteresis in thermal-expansion behavior during heating and cooling. Anisotropic thermal expansion causes microcracking of ceramics during cooling which is detected by acoustic-emission measurements. The microstructure of niobia ceramics was altered by sintering conditions. The influence of microstructure on microcracking and acoustic emission is studied
