Status of the glueballs

  • 1. Brookhaven National Lab., Upton, NY

Description

This paper shows that the BNL/CCNY g/sub T/ (2120), g/sub T/ ' (2220) and g/sub T/ '' (2360) all with I/sup G/ J/sup PC/ = 0+2++ observed in pion minus-proton to phi meson-phi meson-nucleon decay are produced by glueballs if: QCD is correct; and if the OZI rule is universal for weakly coupled glue in Zweig disconnected diagrams where the disconnection is due to the creation or annihilation of new quark flavors. Since the input axioims are in good agreement with experiments and merely represent modern QCD practice, the author feels that he has probably discovered 1-3 J/sup PC/ = 2++ glueballs. The iota (1440) and the /theta/(1700) observed in J//psi/ radiative decay are glueball candidates
