Recycling of metals from dismantling in nuclear facilities
Description
In 1988 the EURATOM Article 31 Group of Experts recommended criteria which are directly applicable to the recycling of steel scrap from nuclear power stations. In recent years there have been a number of new studies relating to recycling of slightly radioactive materials and there has also been new advice given on radiological protection criteria. In light of this the Article 31 Group of Experts decided to convene the Working Party which was asked to expand and update the 1988 recommendation. The present work describes the principal considerations analyzed by mentioned Working Party and presents the (provisional version of) the recommended clearance levels for metal scrap recycling and direct reuse of equipment, components and tools.
