Investigation into glycerosilicates of the second group metals by IR spectroscopy and DTA methods
- 1. Moskovskij Khimiko-Tekhnologicheskij Inst. (USSR)
Description
The composition and structure have been studied of glycerosilicates of magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, zinc, cadmium, and mercury. Infrared spectroscopy and differential thermal analysis have been used as the main methods of investigation. Inorganic components (metal and silicon) are the main parts of synthesized compounds. Organic phase comprises a small fraction of the synthesized compounds in which glycerin accounts for 5-7%. Infrared spectra of the products investigated have the main absorption maxium in the region 1100-900 cm-1 characterizing the vibrations Si-O-Si in silicates. The presence of glycerine is confirmed by weak lines with frequencies 2928 and 2880 cm-1. It has been established that heat absorption at 45-130 deg C is caused by water removal, and exoeffects at 330-700 deg C are due to burning of the organic part
