New structural component of the fast-quenched tungsten-molybdenum steel

Methods of electron microdiffraction and X-ray diffraction analysis were used to investigate the structure of carbon and alloy steels of different composition, quenched from liquid state by the method of centrifugal spraying of a liquid phase on copper screen. Electron microdiffraction patterns of the alloy were characterized by the presence of reflexes of both σ-(α) and γ-phases and of additional maximum nets. Analysis showed, that revealed effects could be explained by the diffraction by (η)phase with cubic primitive cell and 0.6278+-0.0002 nm lattice period. The ratio of intensities of σ-(α) and η-phases testifies to the fact, that the content of a new phase in the alloy achieves 20-50% (according to mass) at 107-108 K/s crystallization rate. This suggests the principle possibility of producing complex-alloy steels with specific (differing from the known) properties
