Absolute magnitudes of B-type primaries in visual binaries
Description
UBV photometry is presented of 12 faint components of physical pairs with early-type primaries, most of which are accepted as members of the Sco-Cen association. Absolute magnitudes of the young secondaries with types B8 V to F6 V are assumed to lie on a modified ZAMS or 0.6 m below Blaauw's MK calibration for stars selected according to apparent magnitude; hence, through |$\Delta\text V$| , absolute magnitudes of the primaries are derived photometrically and spectroscopically. The results for seven main-sequence stars are not significantly different from the Lesh and Walborn calibrations of B2 V stars. The distance moduli agree with Jones' revised values for five stars.
