Λ0 polarization measurements at the Fermilab Neutral Hyperon Facility
- 1. Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison
Description
Two different methods were used to make polarized Λ0's in the Fermilab neutral hyperon beam. In the first method Λ0's were produced polarized for p1 greater than 1 GeV/c in p + Be → Λ0 + X at 300 GeV. In the second method polarized Λ0 daughters from unpolarized Ψ0decay were used: Ψ0 → Λ0π0. The strong production gave a factor of 3 less polarization, but a factor of 100 greater useful flux
