Description
Within the context of a Joint Project between Digital Equipment Corp. and CERN, the concept of Multi-Media workstations (i.e. the integration of video and computing in the X11 environment) will be used as the basis for describing the CERN activities and the Physics at microscopic level. This new method, based on computer controlled interactive video data, can be used in a wide variety of applications in such areas as: maintenance and training, experiment control, summary of physics results and detector description. We hope that this emerging technology will provide a new impetus to computer based instruction through a stimulating exchange between the student/visitor and the data repository. In the video we have prepared for this Conference we will demonstrate the application of such a system for the new Science Center, MicroCosm, at CERN, the problems faced and the solutions this technology can provide
