Description
Radiocobalt is a common contaminant detected in natural waters and sediments which is being released into the environment by nuclear power production. Removal of this radionuclide is of great importance, as cobalt is toxic and tends to accumulate in living organisms. The sorption of Co(II) onto composite materials with graphene oxide appears to be a promising means to remove cobalt from aqueous solutions. In the presented study, a new nanocomposite material, polystyrene-graphene oxide (PS-GO), has been tested for potential use as a sorbent for cobalt capture from radioactive liquid waste
