High resolution 2-dimensional readout of drift chambers
- 1. California Univ., Davis (USA)
Description
The advantages of 3-dimensional space points for track finding are well understood. For drift chambers the distance between the position of the transversal of the particle and the sense wire can be obtained by measuring the drift time. Using a 25 cm x 60 cm active area drift chamber we have investigated the possibility of measuring the distance along the sense wire by connecting pick up pads to a delay line. We obtained a position resolution of less than 350 μm. (orig.)
