ESR studies on fundamental processes in radiation chemistry at low temperatures. Pt. 1. Photobleaching of trapped electrons in 8 M NaOH glass at temperatures 67-173 K

Description

Trapped electrons produced by γ-irradiation at the upper limit of the temperature range under investigation decay upon photobleaching with a positive value of the apparent activation energy while those produced by γ-irradiation at the lower limit of the same temperature range decay under the same experimental conditions with a negative value of the apparent activation energy. Thus upon photobleaching the trapped electrons seem to be released from the traps without the vertical transition through the conduction band. The apparent quantum yield for photobleaching depends mainly on the actual conditions of the given matrix, i.e. on the relaxation processes proceeding in the matrix. (author)
