Description
Atmospheric air is one of the vital life support systems of the earth and violation of its original character leads to degradation of nature. OVOCs emitted into the earth atmosphere undergo various reactions to produce secondary pollutants in the environment. Aliphatic ethers are used as solvents for hydrocarbons, oils, waxes, resins, dyes, gums etc. Because of wide use of ether, it is released to the earth atmosphere. Methyl propyl ether (MPE) is used as fuel additive as well as anaesthetic. Methyl propyl ether on oxidation with the atmospheric oxidants such as OH radicals produce secondary organic pollutants. Previously Zhu et al. reported the rate coefficient of the reaction of MPE with OH radicals was (1.02 ± 0.03) × 10-11 cm3 molecules s-1 at 298 K in 2017. No study on temperature dependent kinetics of the title reaction gave an idea to do such work and; the wide use of MPE was the primary interest of the present investigation of kinetics
