Consistency and A-dependence of empirical effective interactions

  • 1. Nuclear Physics Lab., Univ. of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA 15260

Description

Many shell model interaction matrix elements for configuration spaces as large as a complete major shell can be measured directly with transfer reactions. Some earlier, seemingly contradictory data in the A=90 region have been re-investigated. The results show that the use of centroid energies, i.e. the measurement and inclusion of the weaker fractions of the spectroscopic strengths, is required for the extraction of more generally valid matrix elements
