Preparation of ceramic X-ray scintillator material based on yttrium and gadolinium
Description
The task of the thesis was to find possibilities of preparing a transparent, ceramic scintillator material taking as a basis the system (Y67Gd30Eu03)2O3. The experiments focussed on the preparation of novel, improved powders and on their compacting behaviour during the sintering process. The novel ceramic specimens were examined for their microstructure and their optical and luminescent properties. The two preparation methods finally established are a sol-gel process on the one hand, and an emulsion process on the other. (orig.)

In der Arbeit wurden Moeglichkeiten zur Herstellung eines transparenten keramischen Szintillatorwerkstoffes im Modellsystem (Y.67Gd.30:Eu.03)2O3 untersucht. Besonderes Interesse galt hierbei der Entwicklung neuer, verbesserter Pulver sowie der Untersuchung des Verdichtungsverhaltens dieser Pulver beim Sintern. Die hergestellten keramischen Proben wurden hinsichtlich ihres Gefueges sowie ihrer optischen und lumineszenten Eigenschaften charakterisiert. Im einzelnen wurden zwei Pulverpraeparationsverfahren, ein Sol-Gel-Verfahren sowie ein Emulsionsverfahren fuer das oben angegebene System entwickelt. (orig.)Additional details
