Bilirubin sorption by pectin polysaccharides from blood plasma in in vitro experiments

Description
The sorption activity of pectin substances and hydrogel based on them with different contents of calcium ions in relation to bilirubin was studied in vitro experiments using blood plasma of patients with elevated bilirubin levels. It has been shown that the sorption ability of polysaccharide in relation to bilirubin appears after a fairly certain content of calcium ions, which is apparently due to shielding of the charges of carboxyl groups by metal ions.
