C-14 sample preparation for biological samples
Description
PHWR operation will release a large number of 14C in the form of CO2, which was directly involved in the metabolism of plants and animals, Therefore, it is importance to monitor 14C in the biological sample in the Qinshan nuclear power base environment. The study is to use vacuum lyophilization for dehydration of fresh samples, then use oxygen bomb combustion for dry samples, Carbo Sorb for absorbing CO2 released, and finally for liquid scintillation measurements of 14C samples. Comparing with other methods, this method has many advantages, such as high detection efficiency, simple process and good reproducibility. (author)
