An approach to dose calculation for single linear brachytherapy source capsule

Description
A dose computation model that considers a brachytherapy sealed line source as a cylindrical volume of radioactive material contained within a cylindrical metallic shell has been developed. This three-dimensional model takes into account the attenuation within the radioactive source in greatest detail. The relative dose estimates obtained by this model are discussed for two typical brachytherapy sources. (orig.)

Ein Modell zur Dosisberechnung wird entwickelt, das eine zur Kontakttherapie benutzte, umschlossene stabfoermige Quelle als zylindrisches Volumen aus radioaktivem Material betrachtet, das von einer zylindrischen Metallhuelle umgeben ist. Dieses dreidimensionale Modell beruecksichtigt in allen Einzelheiten die Abschwaechung innerhalb der radioaktiven Quelle. Die mit einem solchen Modell erhaltenen Ergebnisse fuer die relative Dosis werden anhand von zwei typischen, in der Kontakttherapie verwendeten Quellen diskutiert. (orig.)Additional details
