Model experiments as to the prediction of fragmentation and ion yield of tetramethyl-ekalead by means of electron impact ionization

Description

The fragmentation and the ion yield of the tetramethyl compounds of Si, Ge, Sn, and Pb in a mass spectrometer under electron impact is investigated. From the results of these experiments an extrapolation to the behaviour of tetramethyl ekalead in an ion source is made. Therefrom follows that the monomethyl ion of ekalead should be the most abundant fragment when using electrons with an energy of 70 eV. The total ion yield of tetramethyl ekalead should be lower than the ion yield of the other tetramethyl compounds of the IV A group. An explanation for the tendency of the fragmentation and of the ion yield within the IV A group is given. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

(orig.)
