Description

Issues concerned with the material selection and behaviour of the main component reactor materials are examined for the Modular High Temperature Reactor. The work considers materials for the reactor vessel, certain high temperature regions including the control rod and turbine and the graphite core. The work is being performed within a European development initiative supported by the European Union Fifth Framework programme. This paper reviews the main elements of the materials work program and presents some initial results. Future actions with regard to experiments and assessment are discussed. (orig.)
