Method and equipment for production of particles, e.g. nuclear fuel particles
Description
The invention relates to the production of uniform spherical particles and is utilized in the production of fuel particles. A liquid initial material containing, e.g., an uranium alloy, is formed into droplets by means of a special droplet formation unit consisting of a spinning jet or a jet nozzle which is set vibrating by a vibrator. The resulting droplet stream is carried across an electrode (round or flat) with a different electric potential. Here the droplets receive an electric charge of the same sign to preserve their spherical shape. The droplets are carried into reagents, e.g. ammonia gas or ammonium hydroxide, and transformed into gel particles. (IHoe/AK)

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf die Erzeugung von gleichmaessig geformten kugeligen Partikeln und findet eine Anwendung bei der Herstellung von Brennstoffpartikeln. Ein fluessiges Ausgangsmaterial, das z.B. eine Uranverbindung enthaelt, wird mit Hilfe einer speziell entwickelten Troepfchenbildungsvorrichtung, die eine Spinnduese oder Stahlduese und einen diese in Vibration versetzenden Vibrator aufweist, in Troepfchen geformt. Der gebildete Troepfchenstrom wird entlang einer Elektrode (rohr- oder plattenfoermig) gefuehrt, die ein anderes elektrisches Potential als der Fluessigkeitsstrom hat. Daduch erhalten die Troepfchen eine elektrische Ladung gleichen Vorzeichens, die die kugelige Form der Troepfchen aufrecht erhaelt. Die Troepfchen werden in Reagenzien z.B. Ammoniakgas und Ammoniumhydroxid geleitet, wodurch die Umwandlung in Gelpartikel erfolgt. (IHoe)Files
