Proportional chambers with high uniform gas amplification for transition radiation detector

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad (USSR). Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

Measurement results of gas amplifications (GA) of proportional chambers being part of transition radiation detector are presented. The proportional chamber had 100x600 mm sensitive area with 8 mm anode-cathode gap. Anode wires were made of tungsten 25 mum in-diameter and were tightened with 2 mm spacing. Cathode planes were made of 4 mum thick aluminized mailar. The chamber was filled with Xe + 30% CH4 mixture. Eleven structural factors influencing GA fluctuation value that is 10% were considered. 2 refs.; 6 figs
