Description
The observation of anomalous fission fragment anisotropies as compared to the predictions of the standard saddle point statistical model (SSPSM) has led to a revival of interest in the study of fission fragment anisotropies in heavy-ion induced fission. We carried out detailed measurements of fission fragment angular distributions for the system 19F + 232Th in the bombarding energy range of 89 to 108 MeV using thin silicon-surface barrier detectors (followed by thick silicon detectors to veto the elastics, in elastics) and E-gas and E-silicon telescopes to detect the fission events.
