Pressure and temperature dependence of the Cd-hyperfine field in Fe, Co, Ni and Gd

  • 1. Uppsala Univ. (Sweden). Inst. of Physics

Description

In recent years several theories have been proposed in order to explain the systematic trends of the magnetic hyperfine fields (Bhf) which are induced in diamagnetic impurity atoms dissolved in ferromagnetic matrices. A unique possibility to test these different models is offered by changing the lattice distance and this is preferably done in a pressure experiment. In this paper the pressure dependence of the Bhf at 111Cd in iron, cobalt, nickel and gadolinium are reported and discussed together with other results on 5sp-atoms in ferromagnets. The temperature dependence of Bhf at Cd in Fe and Co are also reported and compared with results for Sn. (orig.)
