Fracture characteristic in creep of a 5 Cr-1/2 Mo steel at 600 and 6500C

Description

The creep behavior of a 5 Cr-1/2 Mo steel was studied at 600 and 6500C. The caracteristics of fracture, observed by optical and scanning metallography, displayed a transition from intergranular to transgranular mode of rupture in the range of temperatures and stresses studied. This behavior was dicussed based upon the possible mechanisms for creep deformation taking place in this material

Abstract (Portuguese)

Estudou-se o comportamento em fluencia de um aco contendo 5 Cr-1/2 Mo nas temperaturas de 600 e 6500C. As caracteristicas de fratura observadas por metalografia otica e eletronica revelam uma transicao no modo de ruptura de intergranular para transgranular no campo de temperaturas e tensoes utilizadas neste trabalho. Discute-se este comportamento com base nos possiveis mecanismos de deformacao por fluencia atuantes neste material
